Day 2: Operations Documents

• Last session we talked about foundation documents.
• This session is about operational documents.
  • Operational documents are the descriptions, rules, or records of how the institution is run and what it produces.

What are the Operation Documents of Maris Stella School?

• Take a look at http://mss.epsolutions.pw
• We are storing MSS documents there
• The "Operations" section contains the operations documents

Four types of operations documents on the website

• Policy - Purpose and rules for what we are supposed to do
• Process and Procedures - How to do what we are supposed to do
• Strategic and Action Plans - What we will be doing in order to accomplish a goal in the next year, 3 years, 5 years, etc.
• Reports
  • Description of things or what is going on at MSS.
  • What we did and did we accomplish what we wanted to.

Classwork

• How is MSS run or operated?
• Discuss examples of operations and the associated documents.
  • Operations: Teaching, Maintenance, Library, Administration
  • Documents - Teaching: Curriculum, Report Cards
  • Documents - Maintenance: Maintenance Plan
  • ... etc

Operation: How does a student get to attend MSS?

• Parents submit an application
• MSS accepts the application and lets parents know
• Parents register their student at MSS
• MSS enrolls the student in classes at MSS

Operation Document: What documents come out of this?

• What are the rules for admission (Policy)?
  • ?? Need to find this
• How do we do this (Process/Procedures)?
  • See Handbook. Anywhere else?
• What are the actual information?
  • An admissions packet for the student
  • In this packet there should be at least the following:
    • Application by the parent
    • Acceptance by MSS
    • Student Registration
    • Student Enrollment
• What reports come from this operation?
  • Student Enrollment
  • Parents List
  • Student demographics (age, sex, etc)
